Logo of JMJ Lisbon 2023

October 20, 2020 at 4:01 pm, No comments
On this past 16th of October, the logo that will be the image of the World Youth Days of 2023, in Lisbon, was launched.

Accompanying the launch of the Logo, the official page of the Lisbon Days of 2023 was also launched, available at www.lisboa2023.org.

The author of the Logo was the Portuguese Beatriz Roque Antunes, and was inspired by the theme chosen by Pope Francisco for the Days: "Maria got up and left in a hurry" (Lc, 1, 39) and the evangelical text where this theme is found . It also took into account traits of the culture and religiosity of the Portuguese people.

With the colors of the national flag, the logo has the following symbolism:

"Cross

The Cross of Christ, a sign of God's infinite love for humanity, is the central element, from which everything is born.

Way

As the account of the Visitation on the theme of WYD Lisbon 2023 indicates, Maria leaves, setting out on her way to live the will of God, and offering to serve Isabel. This movement underlines the invitation made to young people to renew ‘inner strength, dreams, enthusiasm, hope and generosity’ (Christus Vivit, 20). Along the way, there is also a dynamic form that evokes the Holy Spirit.

Rosary

The option for the rosary celebrates the spirituality of the Portuguese people in their devotion to Our Lady of Fatima. This is placed on the way to invoke the pilgrimage experience that is so striking in Portugal.

Maria

Mary was designed young to represent the figure of the Gospel of Saint Luke (Lk 1, 39) and to promote greater identification with young people. The drawing expresses the youthfulness of its age, characteristic of those who have not yet been mothers, but which carries the light of the world. This figure appears slightly tilted, to show the determined attitude of the Virgin Mary. "

You can find out more in the news released by the agency Ecclesia, where we removed this excerpt about the symbolism of the logo, and to which we leave you the link:

We hope that you will accompany us on this great Adventure, which is the preparation and participation in the World Youth Days in Lisbon, in August 2023.

We are counting on you!
